Interfaith League Against Poverty has established gender-based Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to encourage unity, confidence, and cooperation among women at the grassroots level. These women-led groups create a welcoming and supportive space where participants can meet regularly, share their experiences, and work together for the well-being of their families and communities.
In many parts of Pakistan, women often spend most of their time within household responsibilities, leaving limited opportunities for social interaction, personal development, or self-expression. Recognizing this reality, I-LAP introduced Women CBOs to help create space for connection beyond daily routines and to encourage women to recognize their own potential.
Through these groups, women are supported in developing skills, starting small self-help initiatives, and exploring income-generating activities such as handicrafts, small businesses, and vocational work. Alongside economic empowerment, the CBOs also nurture friendship, confidence, and emotional support.
Women from different religious and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to build understanding and respect, strengthening interfaith harmony at the community level. Many participants describe these groups as life-changing, offering not only practical opportunities but also dignity, hope, and a renewed sense of purpose.
